Friona, TX - Continuing their ongoing support for Snack Pak 4 Kids™, Hi-Pro Feeds is holding their 2nd annual fundraiser to raise money to nourish kids. Last year, the event brought in over $57,000 for the charity, and this year both organizations hope to expand the program to more schools in Parmer County.
In the local Friona area, there are almost 900 kids who are food insecure. The Snack Pak 4 Kids program works to end weekend hunger for children living in the Texas Panhandle. Students living in food-insecure homes are identified by school staff, and Snack Pak 4 Kids sends home backpacks filled with healthy snacks for both them, and any younger siblings not yet attending school. These backpacks, carefully packed by volunteers, help these children get through the weekend. In Friona, the volunteers pack around 95 bags each week for elementary and junior high students. “Just because you can’t see a problem, doesn’t mean it’s not there.” says Varla Wilcox, Marketing Coordinator for Hi-Pro Feeds.
This years’ dinner and auction will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 6 pm at the Country Rose on FM 1057 in Summerfield, Texas. Money will be raised through ticket sales, sponsored tables, a silent auction, live auction and donations. For tickets or to donate items, please call 806-250-6820 or 806-285-6831.
