On Saturday, April 16 th , three hundred people from all over Parmer County, Texas gathered at the Country Rose for the 2 nd annual Hi-Pro Feeds the Future event. The occasion was supported by Nutra Blend, Hi-Pro Feeds and Snack Pak 4 Kids to raise funds to support children living in food- insecure homes.

“Hi Pro Feeds is made up of people with really big hearts that want to make a difference,” said Varla Wilcox, US Promotions Coordinator at Hi-Pro Feeds. “Children are the  future, and in today’s fast-paced world, people have forgotten or have never known how important agriculture is. Our agriculture communities are the ones that put food on our tables and are the first ones to lend a hand to those in need.”

Hi-Pro Feeds was first inspired to help Snack Pak 4 Kids last year, and raised $57,000. “Because Hi-Pro Feeds manufactures, and sells animal feed products across North America, this initiative fits well with our core values,” mentions Wilcox. “We enrich human and animal lives through the production of animal nutrition products. Feeding hungry kids in our local community is part of that commitment.”

This year’s event raised nearly $60,000 from revenue through the ticket sales, silent auction, live auction, and other donations. In addition, Nutra Blend’s ‘Drive to Feed Kids’ program that partners with Snack Pak 4 Kids also donated a portion of their sales through Hi-Pro Feeds and brought the total to over $74,000 this year.

“The ‘Drive to Feed Kids’ initiative was created as an extension of Nutra Blend and its vendor’s efforts to educate the public about agriculture, and how we feed a growing world,” said Heath Williamson. “We turned education into action through feeding food insecure children by helping raise funds for our customers’ local weekend backpack programs. We believe that no child should face hunger, and as those involved in the agriculture industry, it is our duty and privilege to feed the world.”

Hi-Pro Feeds would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year’s event. We are proud to be part of such a generous and giving community.
